The One Piece of Software Every Pro Handyman Should Be Using

The small tasks of running a business can add up quickly and drain your valuable time and energy – even in a simple business like a one-person handyman business.

Anytime you can eliminate, streamline, or automate these small tasks, you should because doing so can dramatically increase your profits and make your business more enjoyable.

And that’s where software can be a game changer.

In many cases, the right software can literally transform your business – allowing you to provide better service to customers, simplify your work flow, reduce paperwork, and even make your business more fun.

I use all kinds of software to run my businesses – from note taking apps like Evernote to e-mail auto-responders like Aweber.

But, the one piece of software I’ve found indispensable for a handyman business is Breezeworks.

What is Breezeworks?Breezeworks Handyman Software Icon

I’m tempted to call Breezeworks a CRM (customer relationship management software), but it does so much more than that.

For example, if you have a team, it helps you track your employees and schedule them more intelligently. You can even see where they are on a map and manage them from one easy to use dashboard.

And it’s also designed for the one-person operation.

Breezeworks allows you send digital quotes and estimates, collect payments via e-mail, take credit cards, and even integrate with QuickBooks to make accounting super simple.

Basically, it’s an easy to use app that makes running a handyman business 10X easier.

Here’s Why You Should Try Breezeworks

Now, there’s lots of software designed for small biz, and many of them are great for a handyman business. But, here’s why I recommend Breezeworks.

Disclaimer: I am affiliated with Breezeworks. That means I make a small commission if you click one of my links and sign up (at not additional cost to you). I only recommend the best of the best and I was recommending Breezeworks long before I was affiliated with them in any way.

#1 – Specifically Designed For Home Service Businesses

There are unique challenges when you have to travel to your customers instead of customers coming to you. Scheduling gets more complicated, you have to factor in drive time, and if you have employees, you need to keep track of them as they move around the city.

Breezeworks was designed with these challenges in mind. For example, let’s say you have multiple jobs scheduled one after another. Breezeworks will automatically notify you to let you know when you need to leave to make it to your next job. It automatically calculates the drive time and lets you know a few minutes early so you can either start cleaning up, or call your next customer to let them know you’ll be late.

That’s just one of their many cool features.

#2 – Stop Using Multiple Apps When One App Can Do It All

Breezeworks takes care of quoting, billing, scheduling, and even managing customers information, and it does it all in one easy to use app. Then, it integrates with QuickBooks to make accounting faster and easier.

Now, of course there are other options available. But from what I’ve seen out there, Breezeworks is the most comprehensive and most optimized to help handymen like you and I run more profitable businesses.

Sure, there are other quoting apps. And, there are other scheduling apps. And there are even apps to help you collect payment. But, who wants to deal with constantly switching apps and and getting them all to integrate.

#3 – Save Time

Breezeworks allows you to create professional looking estimates in seconds, and then allows you to instantly e-mail them to customers on the spot. No more sending out quotes when you get home after a long day.

You can even e-mail a bill to a customer after the job and allow them to pay the invoice online – right from their computer. No more waiting for checks in the mail.

It also keeps track of your invoices, customer payments, and estimates for each customer – making it fast and easy to search a customer’s history. Then, this data will easily integrate with Quickbooks to save time on accounting.

You can even take pictures and notes of a job for later reference.

All of these small features add up to a lot of saved time and a smoother operating business.

#4 – They’re a Great Company

As an affiliate for the company, I’ve spoken to reps of the company several times.

And, Breezeworks isn’t looking to just put out a mediocre software and collect profits. Just like any smart startup, they are dedicated to working together with business owners to create the best software possible.

They know that the better their software is, the more people will use it, and as a result, the more money they will make. That means you can expect consistent updates and a constantly improving software that grows with your business.

#5 – Look More Professional

When you e-mail a professional quote to a customer, you instantly separate yourself from the fly by night hacks. Same thing goes when you have the ability to take credit cards and collect payment easily through e-mail.

When your business is organized, customers love it. I’ve had several customers comment about how they liked that I was tech savvy and how easy it was to work with me.

When you pay attention to these small details, it shows your customers that you’ll pay attention to details when it comes to their home (they like that).

I’ve said it a million times, but looking professional as a handyman is so important if you want to charge solid rates and get respect from customers.

#6 – You Get a Free Trial

Not sure if Breezeworks is right for you? No worries. You get a FREE 14-day trial to test drive the software.

If you like it, awesome. You just made running your business easier.

If you don’t, then don’t upgrade and you pay nothing. It’s simple.

But, considering how important the right software can be to your business, I’d recommend at least giving it a try.

The Downside of Breezeworks

As you might have guessed, Breezeworks isn’t free. It’s not expensive, but it’s not free either.

There is a small monthly fee that you’ll need to fork over to utilize the software. Some people hate ongoing fees because you have to keep on paying for the software.

But, I look at it like this.

Charging a monthly fee allows the company to be profitable, which keeps them motivated to continue to improve the app. Just like with handyman pricing if you don’t charge enough, you either go out of business or the quality of your service suffers.

An Alternative To Breezeworks

My goal with this website it to help you turn your skills into a six-figure income – not to try to sell you stuff you don’t need.

And I’ll be honest, as great as Breezeworks is, it’s not for everybody. For example, if your just getting started and have a very tight budget, even the small fee they charge might be prohibitive.

Or, if you’re only doing a couple of jobs per week on the side, you probably don’t need all of the features yet.

If either is the case for you, then I want to recommend one other option: ServiceCall. It’s not a good, but it will work.

ServiceCall costs just $5.99 in the App Store and still gives you the ability to send a quote via e-mail, keep track of customers, and help keep your business organized.

It’s what I used when I first got started, and it’s a good basic app to get you started. But, if you’re serious about growing your business, then Breezeworks is a much more powerful piece of software.

Technology Can Help You Make More Money In Less Time

Whether you use Breezeworks or ServiceCall or some other software, just make sure you are leveraging tech to organize and grow your business. Old school methods just take too long and are a waste of time.

All too often I hear of handymen who are afraid of technology – and because of this are cut off from a tremendous amount of opportunity.

Avoiding technology in your business is like entering a Formula 1 race with a horse and buggy. You’re going to lose.

Even if you suck at tech, use it anyway. Be willing to make some mistakes, and step strongly into the digital age. Technology isn’t some wave that’s going to go away. It’s just going to become more and more important as time goes on.

I think BreezerWorks is in line with lots of excellent CRMs in the market where they remain true to their ‘CRMness’ but also incorporate features related to project management, something that makes it a lot easier for the user.
